Hi there,
I see that the Welcome Suica enables free travel on the first day of use if using the monorail then Yamanote line from Haneda. I’m taking a group to Japan and we arrive in Haneda, but will then fly to Osaka. Later on we will come back to Tokyo and that’s when I’d like them to use the Welcome Suica. So I’m wondering if it’s possible to buy the Welcome Suica the day we arrive, but then not use it until we return to Tokyo? Any idea if the “first day” has to be the day we buy the cards?
I realise it’s possible to just buy them when we come back to Haneda, however the second time we will be arriving on a domestic flight and I don’t really want to have to change terminals with 19 teenagers and all our luggage if we don’t have time. We have heaps of time the day we arrive and will be at T3.
I have read this article: https://www.japan-experience.com/transportation/prepaid-cards/welcome-suica-with-1-day-unlimited-tokyo-area-rides
But I can’t see that it says the free rides have to be used on the day the pass is purchased.
Thanks in advance
Brendon
