I just had to get a new passport as my current one is expiring early next year, I can’t find any specific information on what to do, ie, what forms to be filled out, fees, what office to go to, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, if anyone knows a comprehensive site/pamphlet/whatever that has most of the requirements for foreigners living in Japan I’d appreciate that info.

What city are you in?
Your country probably has an embassy in Tokyo.
Your country may have a consulate in other Japanese cities.
Search for “renew Canadian passport online”, for example.

Thanks for getting back to me. I don’t need to get a new passport I just got one from the US embassy. What I wanted to know was what does the Japanese government require if anything? I believe I once saw something somewhere that if a foreigner on a visa got a new passport they had to submit some form(s) however, I can’t find that information again so, I don’t know if it’s valid and if so, what I need to do. So, if you or someone you know has done this then I’d appreciate it if you could pass on that information to me.

It used to be that we had to tell our local city office about any changes to passport, visa, address, and so on. According to this thread, that changed (11!) years ago:
