One of the prerequisites for entry into Japan on a business visa these days seems to be private/travel insurance. I read the article on here about insurance, however, I am interested whether the insurance needs to cover the whole duration of a stay? Say 3 years. Does one not get insurance having joined a company in Japan? Thank you in advance.
If you have a job with a company in japan you’ll either be enrolled in their health insurance or you’ll register with the public health insurance scheme Japan Healthcare System: Everything You Need to Know | Tokyo Cheapo
To be safe should probably have some kind of travel insurance to cover the first week(a) until you are properly enrolled.
