Travel from Kyoto to Ibusuki

Hi. My friends and I are planning a trip to Japan in sept/Oct for the rugby World Cup. We have booked all of our accommodation now and one of them is in Ibusuki, South Kyushu. We will be travelling there from Kyoto. Please could someone tell us if our JR pass and/or Suica card would allow us to make this journey?

Ibusuki Station seems to be on the JR Ibusuki Makurazaki Line, so you’ll be able to use your JR pass. It looks like it’s a little over an hour from Kagoshima. If you’re planning on using it as a base for getting to the games in Kagoshima, check the timetables carefully. It looks like there are only one or two trains an hour on that line.
