I would like to invite you to join me on a photo walk of Shimokitazawa. This neighborhood I have not been to before but, after researching it looks very interesting.
Anyone with an interest in photography and exploring is welcome to join. There are two areas that seem to be of particular interest, one being North of the station and the other being South of the station.
If there are a lot of people, then we can make small groups and just meet back up later.
- 17:45 Shimokitazawa Station => North to 真竜寺 a small buddhist temple
- 19:00 Shimokitazawa Station => South to Tollywood Shortfilm Theater
- 19:45 Get some coffee somewhere
The sun sets around 18:45. For those that want to take some night shots, this may be a good location as well.
How to get there:
Shimokitazawa is located a bit west of Yoyogi on the Keio-Inokashira and Odakyu Odawara Lines.
Some things to keep in mind:
- This is not a tour.
- In Japan, people generally don’t like being photographed. If you see someone interesting though, more than likely if you ask, they’ll say yes. You can of course try to take the inconspicuous photo but don’t be creepy.
