Would like to spend a couple of days in Tokyo and then a couple of days in countryside / mountains. Coming from Thailand so would like to experience some cold weather and see flowers. May be too late for cherry blossom but would like to miss the crowds. Any ideas? We are a family of three. many thanks

I’d also speculate that if you travelled a bit north to the Tohoku region (a safer bet is hokkaido but that’s very far), you’d see cherry blossoms in full bloom, although every year the specific timing is unpredictable
