Getting to manza onsen from Tokyo

Hello all! I’m planning a trip to Manza Onsen in winter - I have already booked my ryokan there (looking forward to it!). However, when I checked the directions there, it seems that I have to take a mixture of shinkansen (an hour’s ride to Takasaki), a local line (JR Agastuma line - 90 minutes ride), then a 40 minutes bus ride. Is this correct, or is there a more convenient/faster method?

Other than renting a car and driving your self, that appears to be the best way. It’s not uncommon for onsen, which are often located in somewhat remote mountains, to be a bit difficult to access. In case you haven’t been to their site yet, Japan Guide usually has pretty good info on stuff like this. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e7495.html#/section_getThere
