Has anyone here been charged a “destination fee” and can someone explain what it’s for? One of the ryokan we’re considering in Hakone indicated that we would be charged a destination fee.
In 17 years, I have never heard of that. Perhaps it’s a mistranslation of some kind of peak travel season fee?
