Can anyone recommend any good day trips from Tokyo? My friend and I will be there for just over a week in August and we’d love to explore further afield - thinking anywhere that’s the countryside or nice suburb areas, maybe good for walking?

Kamakura is a great day trip. It’s the ancient capital of Japan, plus it has some hills for hiking and a beach!

Great Buddha hiking course in Kamakura in the morning, then explore Enoshima island and chill at the beach.
Also check out the beaches in Shimoda, about 3 hours away.
