Hi there,
I am going on a trip to Tokyo soon and was wondering if there are certain areas which is not safe for tourists and regular people to go. Just so I can be safe.
By almost any standard, Tokyo is a very safe city. There are not really any no-go areas. If you are female, there is a risk of train gropers, which you can avoid by not catching rush hour trains or by taking designated women only carriages.
In the past, tourists have been the victims of crime in the nightlife districts of Kabukicho and Roppongi, but as long as you aren’t drunk and you don’t follow a tout, you’ll be fine - even in these nightlife areas.
